When the millimeter-wave radar detects a high risk of collision, the Pre-Crash Seatbelts improves initial restraint capabilities for passengers while the Pre-Crash Brake Assist System decelerates the vehicle to reduce the collision speed and contribute to less damage induced by collision. The Corolla Axio introduced a Pre-Crash Safety System that uses millimeter-wave radar. Ultrasonic sensors installed on the front of the vehicle detect other parked vehicles and, based on the results, estimate the physical dimensions of a vacant parking space and set the target parking position. Also, the optional Intelligent Parking Assist system supports steering operations when parallel parking and backing into a parking space. The Japanese model included a rear-view monitor which displays an image of the area at the rear of the vehicle while backing up to reduce the burden on the driver while parking. The G mid range model receives a set of projector headlamps, factory-fitted audio system with steering audio controls, Push button start, speedometer clusters with additional tachometer clusters and automatic climate controls. The Luxel being the highest trim level, offers additional features such as Dynamic radar Cruise Control and tiptronic transmission. On Japanese models only, G-BOOK, a subscription telematics service, is offered as an option. The option costs ¥105,000, or US$879 at current exchange rates. The Corolla Axio gets Toyota's latest intelligent parking-assist system. The dimensions for the Corolla sold in Japan are smaller than vehicles made for export so as to remain in compliance with Japanese government regulations concerning exterior dimensions and engine displacement. The estate version retains the Corolla Fielder name. The Axio name was created from the Greek word "axia", meaning "things with value". The saloon is now known as the Corolla Axio. My GR86 was in one of the first shipments to the US back in Dec 2021.The tenth-generation Corolla (E140) was released in Japan on 10 October 2006. After looking around at photos online, thinking I was going crazy, it appears the 2023 6AT GR86s have this newer tint, while 2022’s and old 86’s have a cooler silver tint. In one way I liked how the old one matched more with the silver buttons (still not exact though), but in another way, the new one looks richer/more like real metal. What is interesting is the new shift knob had a warmer hue to the silver and the paint was a little more metallic looking than the original which had a brighter less metallic cooler toned silver. While it isn’t super noticeable (passed through QA I guess), I was worried the cracked piece would eventually come out/fall off leaving a moon shaped gap, so I asked the dealer to replace under warranty which they did. While waiting in my GR86 one day I was looking at my stock GR86 6AT shifter and noticed it was cracked, like whoever put it on in the factory pressed hard assembling it and the edge cracked.
